Becoming Delusional to Achieve Your Dream Life?

Welcome to Letters of Wonder — a space to explore the truths behind clarity, creation, and what it means to live a truly wonderful life.

If you’d rather listen to the audio version of this newsletter:

The thing no one talks about is—you have to be delusional to build the life of your dreams.

It’s something I struggle with:

Am I building my dream life?

Or am I just delusional?

And the real answer is... I don’t know.

When you’re chasing your dream life, you have to commit for years.

People will doubt you.

Even you will doubt yourself.

That’s the reality:

You have to trust yourself and keep going.

I’m sharing this because I feel it every day.

I’m building what I want...

And wondering if this is even the right path.

But deep down, I know this is where I want to be.

It’s hard to explain because you don’t know exactly where you’re going, but you feel this pull inside.

That’s why I believe:

Delusion is necessary to build your dream life.

No one else can tell you what you want.

Once you get clear, and you start moving it will feel like delusion.

Because no one has done exactly what you want to do.

You’ll find people doing similar things.

You’ll try to model them.

But even that feels like delusion... until you make it happen.

How to Know if You’re Delusional—or Just Early

I’ve found 3 things that help:

1) Consistency

Stick with something for years.

If you quit after weeks or months, you’re not giving it a chance.

But if you keep going, keep putting in the reps...

You’ll find your voice.

You’ll find the path.

2) Refinement

Consistency alone isn’t enough.

You have to learn as you go.

It’s like going to the gym:

If you’re lifting (even with bad form) you’ll see some progress at first.

But if you never refine, you’ll plateau.

Or worse, get injured.

Same in life:

If you’re just grinding without learning, you’ll stay stuck.

You have to adjust.

Learn what works—do more of it.

See what doesn’t—stop doing it.

That’s refinement.

Put in reps. Learn from them.

That’s how you level up.

3) Vision

You need a vision of where you want to go.

It won’t be a straight path.

And that’s something I struggle with sometimes.

I think I know the exact path, but the truth is, you can only plan so far.

That’s why I love the quote:

“Preparation is better than planning.”

Get clear on the end goal.

The path can change.

Once you know your goal, stay open to how you get there.

Maybe it’s a company.

Maybe a newsletter.

Maybe something else entirely.

You might not even know what happiness or fulfillment looks like yet.

The Core Truth

1) Put in the reps.

2) Refine along the way.

3) Know where you want to go—stay open to how you get there.

If you do those three things, I believe you’ll find the difference between delusion and confidence—and build the life you want.

Even then, you might not get exactly what you think you want.

Maybe you don’t know exactly what you want.

That’s okay.

The thing you want now might not be what you’ll want in the future.

New paths will unfold as you grow.

But if you’re clear on your deeper desire, whether that’s peace, fulfillment, or something else:

I do believe you’ll get there.

Even if it’s not the exact picture you had in mind.

My Reflection

For me, it’s about:

  • Putting in the reps.

  • Showing up, even when it’s hard.

  • Learning what’s working—and what’s not.

  • Staying clear on the life I want to build.

Even if the path changes, I believe the vision matters.

You might not know the exact dream life yet,

But just having a sense of it helps.

If the vision is right, the path will unfold.

That’s what I’m learning.

That’s what I’m living.

And I hope it helps you too.
